so i do this thing where when i get a new album i sit and listen to the whole thing through. actually, more like lay on my bed and turn the volume up and let the music take over my senses. this is so s can get the full effect of the album. i feel it's how music is supposed to be listened to. wholly and completely. i try to catch as much of the lyrics as possible, and remember to rate the songs on my itunes (i give my favorite songs 5 stars; nerdy, i know).
today i downloaded the newest beirut album, the rip tide, and oh...my...goodness. i don't think i've heard such an amazing album in a long time. the songs are more mature but still have the beirut feel that i love about 'em. they continue with the use of tons of instruments, and random ones at that. lead vocals are provided by none other than the lovely zach condon. i fall in love with his voice more and more each time i hear a song by them. so far my favorite songs on the album are "a candle's fire", "santa fe", and "vagabond".
